* Theater of the Living Arts *

The 'Theater of the Living Arts' also known as the 'TLA' is a
great small-scale theater located on 334 South Street. The theater has a stage, open lower level, smaller upper level (towards the back), and a bar on the side for the 21 and older crowd.

Concerts are always great but I highly recommend checking one out in a smaller theater such as the 'TLA' !!! The atmosphere is more low key and because of the theaters size the concert feels more intimate and you are much closer to the artists!! Large concerts can be great (don't get me wrong), but when the artists don't actually look like ants because you are so high up or far away...it's great!

I went to the 'One Tree Hill' concert at the Theater of Living Arts on Saturday, March 26th and it was really nice. The concert was sold out and my sister had extra tickets so my roommate and I went. And honestly I loved it because we were so close. Michelle Branch, Tyler Hilton, Bethany Joy, and Jessica Harp performed for about 2 1/2 hours just about 75 feet away from us. I suggest checking out the 'TLA' website for upcoming artists that you might like! You might want to plan on staying in Philly after a concert and hitting up the bars in Old City for a whole night of fun!

Some of 'TLA's past performers have included:
-Puddle of Mudd
-Blink 182
-Everclear
-Get up Kids
-Darkness
(Just to name a few!)

Upcoming Performers include:
-Garbage
-Lifehouse
-Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley feat. Steven Marely
-Battle for Ozzfest
-All American Rejects

I am used to only huge concerts at Giants Stadium or the PNC Arts Center. But if I ever get a chance, I will check that place out.

Another place Meg for decent concerts is the Electric Factory. That is a good time and if you get a chance could you maybe let us know about the Bike race in Manyunk... the date I mean. The parties their are usually a great time.

it sounds like a place in NYC called roseland. Its a small venue, with a bar upstairs, that is standing only, no seats. However, if you know "the floor" at MSG, the entire building is smaller than that area. Its a really awesome way to see a concert or performer due to the intamacy of the venue. I will definately check out TLA in Philly and I reccomend anybody going to NY check out Roseland. Its a completely different experience than Giants stadium or Madison Square Garden.
